| WEAVILE 1. Dancing Weavile Weavile@Life Orb 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP Jolly|Pressure ~Swords Dance ~Ice Punch ~Night Slash ~Brick Break/ Ice Shard This set is only to be used for Late-game sweeping, since many priority attacks destroy it due to it's defensive fraility. It can sweep teams if used correctly. Swords dance on the switch, then continue to destroy the opponent by using the STAB Ice Punch or Night Slash. Brick break is for Heatran, Blissey and other steel types. Ice shard cn also be used for pokemon like Choice Scarf Flygon, which can OHKO after Stealth Rock Damage, with U-Turn. Ice Punch is generally preferred due to it's better base power considering weavile outspeeds almost the whole metagame with base 125 speed and jolly nature, taking it's speed up to 383, only outsped by Ninjask, Aerodactyl, and Crobat. A problem to this set is skarmory, which is barely 2HKOd by Ice Punch and can Whirlwind Weavile away. Scizor and TechniTop are also problems to this set, OHKOing with Bullet Punch and Mach Punch respectively. 2. Choice User Weavile@Choice Band 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP Jolly|Pressure ~Ice Shard/ Pursuit ~Ice Punch ~Night Slash/ Pursuit ~Brick Break This set is built for pure power, and revenge killing, of course. The moveset requirement is tthe same as the previous set, only pursuit is for trapping choiced pokemon like rotom and gengar into shadow ball, thus trapping them, OHKOing on the switch. It can also be used to OHKO Latias on the switch, but it is unlikely that Latias's Attacks will not 2HKO Weavile. Brick break OHKOs most heatran and 2HKOs the standard 252/252 Blissey. Ice shard can OHKO Latias at time, after taking stealth rock damage twice. Again, Hitmontop and Scizor are huge problems to this set, OHKOing with Bullet Punch and Mach Punch respectively. 3. Anti-Lead Weavile@Focus Sash 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP ~Taunt ~Fake Out ~Ice Punch ~Night Slash/Counter Weavile can stop 'suicide' leads like azelf, taunting them first and KOing with Night slash. h That is the main aim of this set. From preventing entry hazards from being set up and KOing the pposition lead. Weavile carries out this role very well against Aerodactyl, one of the most common leads of the OU Metagane. First Fake Out, to break the focus sash, the Ice Punch to KO it. It also helps weavile against slower leads like Hiippowedon, Metagross and Bronzong. First taunt, to prevent the stup of Stealth Rock, and then Counter, expecting the Earthquake/Meteor Mash Gyro Ball respectively. Weavile will hold on with it's focus sash and OHKO the opposition with counter. Dragonite leads can go over this set due to Inner Focus, but then again, weavile can OHKO with Ice Punch. Team Options: For an offensive team, there are several Pokemon that can help deal with Weavile's counters. Starmie, especially Choice Scarf Starmie, easily deals with Gyarados, who takes minimal damage from anything Weavile can dish out. Weavile also has trouble dealing with Hariyama; Azelf and Rotom-A do well against Hariyama or any other Fighting-type that might come along. Rotom-A can burn Hariyama with Will-O-Wisp and do a good amount of damage with Thunderbolt. Azelf does serious damage to Hariyama with STAB Psychic, though Payback will OHKO Azelf even if Hariyama isn't using a Choice Band. On a more defensive or balanced team, Vaporeon and Celebi support Weavile very well. Both of these Pokemon easily counter Gyarados; Vaporeon can OHKO Gyarados with Hidden Power Electric and Celebi can do heavy damage with Grass Knot or Leaf Storm. Choice Scarf Heatran outspeeds Weavile and can OHKO it with its STAB Fire attacks. Blissey and Tentacruel are good counters to Heatran, though Blissey needs to watch out for Explosion. Counters: Mainly all steel types are Weavile Counters, namely Skarmory, Scizor, Metagross, Bronzong and Forretress. Skarmory and Forretress laugh at weavile's attacks, 2HKOing with Brave Bird or Whirlwinding it away, and OHKOing it with Gyro Ball, respectively. Hitmontop also OHKOs weavile with Fake Out+Mach Punch. Weavile also can not OHKO Infernape, but infernape can OHKO weavile with Flamethrower. Choice Scarf Heatran Outspeeds and OHKOs weavile with Flamethrower. | |
