three pokemon team

QUICK!!!! i need three beastly pokemon that u can catch early in the game to beat the elite 4. im going through the entire game with just three pokemon and idk which ones to pick. hopefully i can be able to get them early in the game tho so HELP!!!

If you take a starter with you i think charmander is great... that is the starter pokemon right?

yeah i was gonna use a starter but i dont kno who to use on the other two...btw i am gonna use hm slaves just not use them in battles

ok then definatly get charmander so it can learn fly for you once its a charizard, it can learn cut. mankey is a great pokemon too i love mankey and you might want a poliwag but hey thats just what i would do. i have fire red

do u think that a charizard pikachu and nidoking/queen would work or would i have too many weaknesses

You hve a common Earthquake weakness. Try Charizard, Onix, and Lapras. They make a great team, and have great synergy.

true but he dosen't get lapras till later in game

those three would be good...do u think a cloyster could replace lapras i can get it a little earlier and then i would still have a water ice...wat about a slowbro would that work...

Slowbro works good too, but remember you get Lapras for free after the forth gym when you beat the Team Rocket boss to save Silph.

but lapras would only be lv 25 and my charizard and onix will be like 60-70 by then so it would be waayyy far behind

True, but when i had mine by the time i got to the Elite 4 my Lapras was LV67 and my highest LV was Charizard at LV69. It LVs up pretty fast.

i somewhat agree with tool man i don't like training new pokemon so i think its best to just get pokemon early in the game. so tool man get a magikarp and train it to garadose i normal buy them from the guy that rips you off with the price.

yeah gyardos would be nice but wat about starmie...i can get it about halfway through the game and its moveset of surf ice beam thunderbolt and psychic would be killer
and here is my moveset for my charizard...aerial ace flamethrower dragon claw and either iron tail/steel wing

i still havent decided on whether i should use onix or pikachu
for onix i would use rock slide earthquake iron tail double edge but for pikachu i would use thunderbolt dig brickbreak iron tail...both have their goods and bads but which should i pick!!!

alrite guys im starting my game tomorrow so if u have any last opinions say them quick or ill go with my gut feeling...

Tip:
If you go with Charizard, Gyarados, and Pikachu you team can get smashed by an Onix, Lapras, and other pokemon like them w/great Def and Sp.Def. Think about that, and remember that team never failed me once in my Fire Red.

i just calculated the strengths and weaknesses of each of my possible team members and the top three and my line up for my pokemon leafgreen team are:

CHARIZARD lll Rizardon (japanese name for charizard)
flamethrower
aerial ace
dragon claw
steel winf

STARMIE lll Hoshi (japanese word for star)
surf
ice beam
psychic
thunderbolt

PIKACHU lll Supaaku (japanese word for spark) or Raimei (thunder) or Inazuma (lightning)
thunderbolt
iron tail
dig
brick break

a little help would be nice on the nickname for pikachu too plz...cant decide...and if u have a bettr one for charizard or starmie plz tell me

I still say Onix over Pikachu, because Onix would bring you more Def to the team. And that team has no Def so it's a good choice. Plus Onix has STAB Earthquake that is more powerful and more reliable then Dig from Pikachu.
