4th tournament of TER!!!

Hey Guys!!!

It's been waaaay too long since we've had a tournament, soooo break out your ds's, games, and pokemon apparel and get ready for the 4th tournament of The Emerald Rain!!! Since most people won't have special teams made this tournament will have standard rules and standard clauses. Its OU tiers and lower, so basically no ubers. Each round will be a best of 3 series of battles, basically, you have to defeat your opponent twice in order to advance. Prizes are still being discusses, but they will be there. However, the winner shall decide the type of the next tournament, whether it be typed, colored, UU, NU etc. We will try to get at least 12 people for the tournament, please register by responding to this post, 5 days after the 12th person signs up we will begin. 12, huh? that kinda seems impossible, considering the activity here, but i will join anyway just in case this does happen. if it does happen there will probably be some no shows to this tourney.

I know twelve is a little high, but I know two people who will join TER and enter the tournament. I might be able to get two more on top of those two as well, so that would make it so we only really need 8

Remember though, if your opponent doesn't have shoddy, you will be asked to battle normally

And Shoddy is basically you just make the pokemon, there is no skill involved in training them or raising them, or working long hours on your pokemon. It basically comes down to who chooses the best pokemon and their moves.

lolwut pdog? theres plenty of skill involved. nowadays most everyone pokesavs their pokemon for the DS battles. it's rather rare to find someone who IV breeds/EV trains their pokemon these days. I don't know about you but I actually raise my pokemon, i do the iv and ev thing, sorry I'm not a cheater. I don't know what to say to dede and srazy, i personally prefer to only use the ds too.

yeah, but it's pretty much cheating because you can set EV's and IV's to whatever you need them too. you just basically saying that your too lazy to train them yourself on ds, and if you're looking for people who acually train these days go to the real tourneys, and there are a lot of people who ev and iv train here on the forum. the only excuses to do shoddy are either you have crappy wifi or you dont have a ds.

Im in, Shoddy only. Parents wont allow me to buy a DS ;/ Also, shoddy requires more skill than you think. A noob with pokemon having perfect EVs and IVs doesn't beat anyone he wants... skill is a need too.

true you need strategy, but setting the ev's, and iv's, and the level, just takes the fun out of what pokemon should really be.

This is your MAIN problem as a forum. You are very unfamiliar with competitive battling in general. the world is full of DS hackers. You think DS is better because *you* properly train your pokemon. 10% of the people online use 255EVs-In-Every-Stat cheats on DS, whilst that is impossible to do on Shoddy. 70% of the people have access to Pokesav and some use it the wrong way (setting 31IVs with incompatible Natures, Ability numbers and PID numbers).
You can maintain your DS-only preference, therefore ditching everyone without a DS/WiFi, but be sure you will never progress in terms of activity on the forum.

Your definition of "cheating" is bad and you should forget about things you've heard about Shoddy, not discriminate people that use it as their only option to play pokemon online.

And Morgan, level of the pokemon does not matter on WiFi either (Its always 50 or 100, unless you are battling in Little Cup). Same is possible on Shoddy.

yeah but that's beside the point. it just takes the fun out of training the Pokemon yourself

10-20% of competitive Pokemon players train all of their Pokemon themselves.

Skochko, where did you get those statistics? I would really like to see them for myself. And if people really want to I'm sure they could find a way to hack on Shoddy. You seem to have a very bad opinion of people in general, I've met a lot of people who don't cheat and do everything legit, who do you know that hacks?
